PIERRE – Pierre Governor Boys Basketball will try for a third straight win on Friday in Box Elder against the Douglas Patriots. Pierre stopped Douglas in the Governors’ last game at the Riggs High Gym on Thursday, January 14, 69-53.
Head Coach Terry Becker said that the win over Douglas, plus a victory two days earlier at home over Sturgis, helped his team.
Matthew Hanson had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win over Douglas. Becker said that Hanson is a very important player for the Governors.
Knowing that Douglas likes to shoot three-pointers, Becker knows that it isn’t easy to create separation from the Patriots.
A Pierre boys team hasn’t had a three-game winning streak since 2017. The Governors will try to achieve that Friday against Douglas in Box Elder. Coverage will begin Friday evening at 7:30 on the Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7, with DRG Media Group Sports Director David Burrall calling the action. Live and archived video will be available at the DRG News app and at the River 92.7 page at drgnews.com.
