When they meet this evening (Tues.), the Stanley County Commission will consider an ordinance to combine the Auditor, Treasurer and Register of Deeds offices.
Auditor Philena Burtch says the ordinance wouldn’t change how the offices are run.
Burtch says the Auditor and Register of Deeds offices each only have one employee and the Treasurer’s office has two. and Register of Deeds positions would be considered deputies of the finance officer.
Hughes County has had a combined Auditor, Treasurer and Register of Deeds office since 1998.
Also on tonight’s Stanley County Commission agenda consideration of a resolution declaring Stanley County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary County.
The Stanley County Commission meeting starts at 5pm in the Stanley County Courthouse in Fort Pierre.
