SALEM – Pierre Governor senior Caytee Williams has been chosen to play on the AA girls team in the 3-Class Shootout, an all-star basketball event scheduled for this Saturday in Salem.
Williams was Pierre’s second-leading scorer at just over 10 points per game this past season. She also averaged just over five rebounds, more than four assists and more than two steals per game.
Kalla Bertram of Winner was selected for the Class A girls team. Bertram was the second-leading scorer for the Warriors.
The girls B team will feature Caelyn Valandra-Prue of state champion White River. Valandra-Prue completed her high school career with 2,536 points, the eighth-most in South Dakota girls basketball history.
Chamberlain’s Drayton Priebe and Winner’s Brady Fritz were selected to the Class A boys team. Priebe averaged over 17 points per game for the Cubs. Fritz averaged 25.6 points per game for the Warriors and nearly five rebounds.
The AA girls will play the A girls at 2:00 PM on Saturday, with the winner of that game playing the B girls at 3:30. At 5:15, the AA boys will face the A boys, with that winner clashing with the B boys at 7:00. In between those games, there will be a dunk contest.
