Weather permitting, next week several street closures are planned in Pierre to accommodate street paving operations.
MONDAY, JULY 30
Governor’s Drive
Beginning before 8 a.m., Governor’s Drive, between Church Street and the McKay Building, will be open to local traffic only. Governors Drive, from the McKay Building to the Fourth Street intersection, will be closed. Cultural Heritage Center traffic will have access via Fourth Street (from the north).
TUESDAY, JULY 31
Governor’s Drive
Beginning before 8 a.m., Governor’s Drive, between Church Street and the McKay Building, will be open to local traffic only. Governors Drive, from the McKay Building to the Fourth Street intersection, will be closed. Cultural Heritage Center traffic will have access via Church Street (from the south).
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 1
Fourth Street
Fourth Street, between Euclid Avenue and the State Health lab, will close prior to 8 a.m. to allow crews to finish paving operations. This closure includes the intersection of Fourth Street and Governors Drive.
THURSDAY, AUG. 2
Fourth Street
Fourth Street, between Garfield Avenue and Bristol Place, will close prior to 8 a.m. to allow crews to finish paving operations. Local traffic should detour to Bristol Place or Brookstone Loop to access residential areas.
FRIDAY, AUG. 3
Fourth Street
Fourth Street, between Bristol Place and the State Health Lab, will close prior to 8 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to detour around the impacted area by using Euclid Avenue, Capitol Avenue and Garfield Avenue.
SATURDAY, AUG. 4
Buchanan Avenue, between Dakota Avenue and East Sully Avenue, will close prior to 8 a.m. for paving. Park Street will remain open to east and westbound traffic.
Morris, Inc. has been contracted by the City of Pierre to complete street paving and resurfacing operations. Resurfacing a road is a three-step process that includes removing the old surface, removing debris and finally paving the surface.
