MINOT, ND – Post 8 won twice on Friday in their first two games at the Heilman’s Performance Invitational, defeating Watertown-Mayes (MN) 7-0 and Minot (ND) 7-2 at Corbett Field.
Bennett Dean led the Eights’ charge against Watertown-Mayes with a solo home run, two-run double and RBI single. Maguire Raske and Andy Gordon had three hits each. Isaac Polak, Aaron Booth and Cade Hinkle combined on a three-hit shutout.
Hinkle homered in the win over Minot. Gordon, Booth, Jack Merkwan and Spencer Letellier also drove in runs. Gary Nedved pitched a complete game for Post 8 (17-9).
Post 8 will play Mandan at noon on Saturday before playing in a semifinal game later in the day.
