Weather permitting, several street closures are planned this week to accommodate street resurfacing projects in Pierre.
Tomorrow (Thurs. July 26), Fourth Street, between Euclid Avenue and the State Health Lab, will close before 8am. This stretch of Fourth Street, as well as the intersection of Governors Drive and Fourth Street, will be closed all day so the old street surface can be removed. Governors Drive, between Church Street and Fourth Street, will be open to local traffic only throughout the day. Access to the McKay Building and the Cultural Heritage Center will be intermittently interrupted throughout the day tomorrow.
On Friday (July 27), Fourth Street, between Garfield Avenue and Mickelson Pond, will be open to local traffic only. Traffic flow will be controlled with pilot cars. Motorists should expect delays. Through traffic is encouraged to detour around the impacted area by using Brookstone Loop, Garfield Avenue or Harrison Avenue.
Also on Friday, Buchanan Avenue, between Dakota Avenue and Sully Avenue, will be closed throughout the day to remove the old street surface. Park Street will remain open to east and westbound traffic.
