The voters have spoken and “Champ” is the name of the Capital Area United Way’s new goat mascot for the 2021/2022 fundraising campaign.
The name was revealed during United Way kickoff activities at Friday’s Pierre Trappers baseball game.
This year’s Capital Area United Way theme is “Be the G.O.A.T.”– as in greatest of all time. Over $14-thousand dollars ($14,518) has already been raised toward the goal of $555,001. At the game itself, $719 in donations were collected.
This year’s campaign co-chairs are Lonnie and Jackie Heier. To help support the cause, the Heiers have started a Round Up Campaign at the Pierre Dairy Queen. Through August 15, 2021, customers will have the option to round up their total to the nearest dollar with the extra amount going to support the CAUW.
Donations may be made online at CapAreaUnitedWay.org and the campaign runs through the end of the year. A campaign video is available for viewing here.
The Capital Area United Way supports 17 local nonprofit partner agencies.
