A 67-year-old Pierre man is charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer after an incident Friday night.
According to the Pierre Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of West Dakota Avenue because of a 911 hang up. Upon arrival, officers overheard a verbal argument inside the residence. Officers were able to make contact with the occupants, during which time John Graves refused to cooperate with the investigation. As officers attempted to calm the situation, Graves took a fighting stance and drew back his arm in a manner consistent with attempting to engage a person in a physical altercation. Graves was restrained and arrested for Simple Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Graves was transported to the Hughes County Jail. No injuries were reported.
