Three members of the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department have gone west to help fight a wildfire in Washington state.
Chief Justin Jones, assistant chief Tye Odden and firefighter Trey Stroup were initially assigned to the Sherwood Fire, but Odden says they’ve been reassigned to the Green Ridge Fire.
Odden says fighting a wildfire in Washington state requires a different strategy than what they often use for grass fires back here at home.
Jones, Odden and Stroup should be home sometime next week.
