The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Saturday was highlighted by the 19th Annual Mayor’s Ride, which was led out of town by special guests, the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen says “this ride has been a special part of the Sturgis Rally, not only for the amazing beauty of the Black Hills but that it brings people together from all over the world…and brings them back year after year!”
Proceeds from the Mayor’s Ride go back to help the city’s emergency services, including Sturgis Fire and Ambulance.
The ride was started in 2003 by former Mayor Mark Ziegler and has been carried on by the late Mayor Maury Larue and currently by Mayor Mark Carstensen. The route takes the group to Mt. Rushmore for a group picture before ending at Custer State Park for lunch.
Grand Marshall Jody Perewitz helped lead the annual ride.
