MITCHELL – Zak Wallner just kept pitching Wednesday, and it paid off for Kimball/White Lake.
Wallner threw 173 pitches and struck out 10 in a complete-game victory as the Nationals defeated Redfield 9-4 at Cadwell Park to advance to the quarterfinals of the SDABA Class B State Tournament.
Kimball/White Lake led 2-1 before breaking the game open with six runs in the top of the fourth. Dylanger Pierson hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning for the final margin.
The Nationals will play Winner/Colome in the last quarterfinal game on Friday night.
