Grant application submitted for RCP&E rail line from Fort Pierre to the Black Hills

A grant application for a major railroad improvement project on a line going west from Fort Pierre is in the works.

South Dakota Transportation Department Secretary Joel Jundt told the Railroad Board this week (Aug. 18, 2021) the application for the RCP&E project has been submitted.

The project would replace and upgrade the rail line from Fort Pierre to the Black Hills.
