PIERRE – Longtime rival Huron is the Pierre Governors’ homecoming football opponent Friday at Hollister Field at Phil Trautner Stadium. Pierre is 4-1 with four straight victories. Huron is 2-3, coming off a surprise 21-14 win at Aberdeen Central last week.
Governor Head Coach Steve Steele said that there has been some improvement in Pierre’s defense, but especially with its effort last Friday in the 24-10 win at Yankton, the defense is simply steady.
Steele singled out players he thought played especially well defensively last week.
Steele was asked how similar Huron’s offense is to that of the recent past.
Steele thinks that Tiger quarterback Cade McNeil is solid and continuing to improve.
Steele says that the Governors’ secondary must be wary of receiver Max Krantzler, who had eight catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns against Aberdeen Central.
Pierre will host Huron for Homecoming Friday at Hollister Field at Phil Trautner Stadium. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on The Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7. Live and archived video will be available at the River 92.7 page at the DRG News app and at drgnews.com. Brian Oakland will call the action.
