(KORN Radio, Mitchell)- Women from Pierre and Watertown have been named McGovern Hunger Ambassadors.
Sandra Kangas of Pierre and Nyla Bergan of Watertown received the distinction during the South Dakota Hunger Summit this week in Mitchell.
Kangas spent 23 years with the South Dakota Department of Education where she worked with child nutrition and commodity programs to make sure people had access to food.
Bergan is a retired teacher and member of the “Sandwich Ministry.”
The award spotlights South Dakotans who exemplify the same passion for ending hunger as George McGovern showed in his life’s work at home and abroad.
