HURON – Years and years of Pierre Governor Volleyball’s frustration against Huron, at least for now, have ended.
On Thursday at the Huron Arena, Pierre won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-23, for the Governors’ first win over the Tigers since 2008, breaking a 32-match losing streak to their rivals.
Ayvrie Kaiser, after being denied by Huron on a few occasions during the first set, led Pierre (11-3) with 12 kills and three aces. Lily Sanchez had seven and Remington Price scored five. MaKenna Schlekeway had three blocks.
Pierre swept Huron in volleyball for the first time since the first round of the 2007 AA state tournament.
Pierre will host Harrisburg Tuesday at the Riggs High Gym. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on The Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7. Live and archived video will be available at the River 92.7 page at the DRG News app and drgnews.com.
