UPDATE OCTOBER 14, 2021:
A 59 year old man from Lead has been identified as the person who died Oct. 6, 2021, in an ATV crash northwest of Lead.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 2016 Polaris Ranger XP ATV was westbound in a ditch south of US Highway 14A when the driver lost control. The ATV rolled over and the driver was thrown from the vehicle.
The driver, James Luze, Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

One person died Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 6, 2021) in an ATV crash northwest of Lead.
The name of the person involved is not yet being released.
