Despite the strong winds, the Pierre Rural Volunteer Fire Department has been able to save over 200 large hay bales this (Tues.) morning at a farm northeast of Pierre.
Assistant chief Byron Caauwe says they were called to a location along Beastrom Road a little before 7am.
Caauwe says the strong wind is both helping and hindering efforts to extinguish the fire.
