SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The speaker of the South Dakota House is facing a lawsuit over his decision to withhold from a newspaper the names of lawmakers who petitioned for a special legislative session to consider impeaching the attorney general. The Sioux Falls Argus Leader and the South Dakota Newspaper Association filed a lawsuit Wednesday (Oct. 13, 2021) alleging that Republican District 23 Rep. Spencer Gosch of Glenham violated state open records laws by refusing requests for the names of lawmakers who signed on to a petition for the special session. Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg is facing potential impeachment next month for his conduct in a car crash that killed a pedestrian last year.
