The Stanley County GOLD (Greater Opportunities for Learning & Development) afterschool program held an art show as part of the nationwide Lights On Afterschool events yesterday (Oct. 28, 2021).
Three of the kids– Rhemy Rathbun, Kaysen Fisher and Emry Dowling– gave me a tour of their art projects, then visited with me about why they enjoy participating in the GOLD program.
The current Stanley County GOLD Program opened in 2019 with a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant from the South Dakota and United States Departments of Education. It now serves 110 students annually, providing homework assistance, summer and afterschool academic enrichment and a range of programming.
