Stanley County School junior Elizabeth Duffy won the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary audio-essay Voice of Democracy contest. Students in grades 9-12 were able to participate by sending in a written and recorded copy of their essay. The 2018-2019 theme was “Why My Vote Matters.” Duffy’s essay was sent on to district competition. The state winners will be announced in January 2019.
