The national average price for a gallon of gas went up eight cents in the past week to $2.62. While today’s national average is nearly 25 cents more expensive than last month, it’s only two cents more expensive than last year at this time.
AAA spokesperson Marilyn Buskohl says state gas price averages are similar to a year ago– which are among the most expensive averages seen this time of year in the past five years.
South Dakota’s average price for a gallon of gas is $2.55– 9 cents more than a week ago, 29 cents more than a month ago and the same as it was at this time last year.
The nation’s least expensive markets are: Utah ($2.34), Alabama ($2.36), Mississippi and Arkansas ($2.37).
