A dog spent about half an hour in the water, but is doing well after being rescued by emergency responders yesterday (Thurs.) evening.
Pierre Fire Assistant Chief Paula Tronvold says the dog fell through in the area of the Oahe Dam, north of the marina.
Initially, she says there were two dogs in the water about 20 yards off shore.
Tronvold says ice conditions are unpredictable right now.
Again, Tronvold reminds people Pierre Rescue trains for this type of situation and has the equipment needed to safely get people or pets out of the frigid water. She says ALWAYS call, never attempt a rescue on your own.
