The first regular meeting of the new year for the Walworth County Commission began on a contentious note, as Commissioner Kevin Holgard maintained his stance that newly appointed Commissioner Justin Jungwirth cannot represent District 5 because he does not reside in the district. Holgard said he had contacted the Secretary of State’s Office, but State’s Attorney Jamie Hare questioned the credentials of the person Holgard spoke with.
Hare challenged Holgard on the definition of living in a district.
Holgard told Hare he has talked to other attorneys about the matter.
Hare said Jungwirth is not in violation of the code.
