At Tuesday (Jan. 11th) night’s meeting of the Mobridge City Council, Grant Oxner, owner of River’s Edge Repair (formerly Ron’s Repair) went before the council to appeal the zoning board’s recent denial of his request to rezone his lot on West Grand Crossing from general commercial to highway commercial. The zoning board’s concern is the space Oxner has to work with for both repair and auto sales. Councilperson Jade Mound said the permitted uses of both general commercial and highway commercial need to be addressed and clarified. The council then passed a motion to uphold the Zoning Board’s decision. Councilmen Kyle Jensen and Randy Carlson both voted against. Oxner will be able to operate his repair business but not have car sales on his lot.
Ted Dickey with NECOG asked the council to approve authorizing Finance Officer Heather Beck to sign the state water plan prior to February 1st to get the state water plans amended so that applying for funding for projects can move forward. Dickey also wants to start the application process for water or waste water project plans by April 1st with the DANR.
Council approved the appointment of Denise Centeno to the Zoning Board for the term ending in May 2023.
The second reading of Ordinance number 1004 on redistricting was approved, leaving all wards the same based on census information.
Public hearing was held and approval given on a resolution to vacate an alley that runs north/south through a triangle-shaped lot by the railroad tracks. James Prasek, owner of Hard Rock Resources, LLC, purchased the old Hills Feed & Seed and wants to demolish a building located there and put up storage for his equipment.
