UPDATE JANUARY 24, 2022:
A 42-year-old man from Sisseton has been identified as the person who died late Wednesday night (Jan. 19, 2022, 11:16pm) in a one-vehicle crash 14 miles northeast of Summit.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Shayne Cook was driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne westbound on 127th Street when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, went into the ditch and rolled. Cook, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
