PIERRE – Solid team play continued for Pierre Governor Girls Basketball Tuesday, and so did the team’s winning streak.
Pierre dropped Huron at the Riggs High Gym 55-39, holding the Tigers scoreless for the last 5:08 as the Governors earned their first three-game winning streak since early in the 2020-21 season.
Ryann Barry scored 15 for the Governors. Ayvrie Kaiser also scored 15 and added 10 rebounds, hitting three first-half three-pointers. Remington Price hit two threes and scored 11.
Pierre (6-9) had built up a 12-point lead before seeing Huron cut it to three points on an Isabella Ellwein shot with 5:08 remaining. Then, the Tigers never scored again as Barry and Price hit big shots during the 13-0 run that ended the game.
On Friday, the Governors will host Bismarck (ND) at the Riggs High Gym. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on 1060/103.1 KGFX and at the KGFX page at the DRG News app & drgnews.com.
