For Emergency Management, the commissioners approved advertising for a budget supplement for $34,000.00 for the purpose of paying for the Lake Hiddenwood H & H Study. The supplement is being done in advance of the claim for payment.
Walworth County Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen informed the commissioners that sixteen smoke detectors have been installed in the courthouse. Jensen gave a public thank you to Curt Rawstern for volunteering his time to put them in.
Jensen suggested to the commission to amend the Fire Hazards Ordinance to include an open burning ban that would be in place any time a portion of Walworth County is declared in a D-2 Severe Drought Category or above on the U.S. Drought Monitor. The First Reading of the amendment will be put one of the next meeting agendas. Jensen said the eastern part of the county is already listed as “D-Zero” which is “abnormally dry” and the western part of the county is in the “D-1” category, which is “moderate drought”.
The commissioners also gave their support to Jensen to accept the position of Warhawk District Director.
