1850 acres of industrial hemp grown in South Dakota in 2021; 900 acres in North Dakota

Industrial hemp grown in open areas in South Dakota totaled 1,850 acres, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Industrial hemp harvested in open areas totaled 1,700 acres.

Industrial hemp grown in open areas in North Dakota totaled 900 acres, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Industrial hemp harvested in open areas totaled 770 acres.

This is the first time USDA’s NASS has published estimates on industrial hemp.
