The chief executive officer of the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce has resigned. Sara Rankin has held the position since June 2021.
“My time at the Chamber has been an incredible learning experience. It has been a pleasure to work with, and learn from, such a talented and driven team and has been an honor to work every day with them and our members to better the community we all love and call home. Thank you to the staff, the members, and the board of directors for such a great opportunity!”
The chamber’s executive board of directors, currently chaired by Aaron Fabel with the Oahe Family YMCA, will oversee the candidate selection process. Rankin will continue to lead the Chamber as the interim CEO.
“In the short time that Sara led the Chamber, she did a remarkable job being a strong advocate for our local businesses and becoming a respected leader in our community. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her nothing but the best as she follows her passion for municipal government.”
Rankin will begin working for the South Dakota Municipal League as the Director of Research and Training on April 4, 2022. She previously worked at the South Dakota Municipal League as the Director of Marketing and Communications.
The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce is an active membership organization that has served the Pierre and Fort Pierre communities since its origination as the Pierre Citizens Union in 1881. The Chamber promotes prosperity, growth, and our way of life in the lower Oahe region.
