PIERRE, SD – Allen Lee Christie, 76, formerly of Pierre, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on New
Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025, while residing at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 17, 2026 at First United Methodist Church in Pierre.
Allen dedicated more than 20 years of his life to serving others as a firefighter and later as the
State Fire Marshal, a role he carried out with integrity, commitment, and deep respect for public
safety. His work was not just a career, but a calling—one that reflected his strong sense of duty
and care for his community.
Outside of his professional life, Allen loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting or
fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and happiness. Those who knew him will remember
his steady presence, quiet strength, and the deep love he held for his family.
Allen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beth, with whom he shared 48 years of
marriage. Their life together was one built on love, partnership, and devotion to family.
He is survived by his two sons, Matt Christie (Bunny) and Jeff Christie (Sarah); three
grandchildren, Tucker Christie (Haley), Spencer Christie, and Cheyenne Christie; and one
great-granddaughter yet to be born. Allen took great pride in his family and found joy in every
moment spent with them.
In lieu of flowers, the Christie family requests memorial gifts, all of which will be donated
to the South Dakota Firefighters Association Fallen Firefighters Memorial Fund.
Allen will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him
