Mass of Christian burial for Allison Martin, 45, of Kenel, will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Catholic Church of Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary in Kenel. Burial with be at the Catholic Church of Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm, Friday, June 6, 2025, with a visitation starting 6:00 pm at the church. A procession will be leaving Kesling Funeral Home at 5:30 pm on Friday, June 6, 2025. Allison passed away on May 28, 2025.
Allison “Allie” Maria Martin was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, on January 20, 1980 to Judi and Cordell “Corky” Yellow Fat. Allie spent a great amount of her childhood with her maternal grandmother Elsie Martin, who helped raise her. She was definitely a grandma’s girl. She also spent a lot of time with Auntie Isabelle Crow Feather, whom also thought the world of her.
Allison, or Allie, as everyone knew her, attended school in McLaughin then later received her GED certificate from Sitting Bull College. In her working years, she worked at the Grand River Casino and The Bay. She shared her two sons with her special friend, Carlos Martinez. Allie was a very quiet, humble, and soft-spoken woman. She never made much noise to any given situation. She had the warmest and most gentle smile that matched her beautiful spirit.
Allie is survived by her two sons, Landen (Tia) and Quinn Martinez, her two grandsons, Edrist & Cashius Martinez, her parents Judi and Cordell Yellow Fat, sister, Bobbi Rey Yellow Fat, two brothers, Katlin (T’Yonna) and Frank Yellow Fat, nieces, Jendaya (Alex) One Horn and Precious Yellow Fat, Reyonna, Raegin and Rayshal Yellow Fat, nephews, Dajuan Yellow Fat, Reymin and Raines Yellow Earrings, aunts, Laurel (Duane) Vermillion, Paula (James) Gayton, Annette Yellow Fat, Irma (Gaylene) Yellow Fat, uncles, Terry (Gaylene) Yellow Fat, and RJ (Glena) Yellow Fat, godparents, Joey Fischer and Dawn Luger, and godchild, Kansas LaFromboise.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hank and Elsie (Left Hand) Martin, paternal grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy (Demery) Yellow Fat, auntie, Isabelle Crow Feather, brothers, Cordell (CJ) Yellow Fat Jr. and Joe Paul Yellow Fat and uncle, Henry Martin, and Clyde Walking Elk Sr.
