Funeral services for Alvina Ackerman, 86, of Mound City will be at 2 PM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Herreid Baptist Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 6 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the church. Alvina passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.

Alvina Rosina Ackerman was born on February 27, 1937, to Fred and Emma (Neumiller) Heiser in Artas.
She grew up on the farm and attended country school until the eighth grade. At that time, she had to stay home and help on the farm. She was baptized on October 12, 1952, at the Hoffnungstal Church near Artas. Alvina married Orville Ackerman on October 2, 1955. They were lifetime farmers, raising grain, cattle and dairying. In 1998 she started doing homecare and had clients from all over the area. She did that for the next 25 years until health issues forced her to retire in June of 2023.

Alvina is survived by her children, Karen Bower of Draper, SD, Shelly (Dale) Winterberg of Selby, SD, Kevin Ackerman of Lisbon, ND, and Scott (Dawn) Ackerman of Watertown, SD, six grandchildren, Jeff and Mark (April) Lebeda, Lori (Frank) Winterberg, Jacob (Amanda) and John (Eliza) Ackerman and Jay (Michaela) Ackerman, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters Viola Pfeiffer of Eureka and Bertha Wanner of Eureka, and sister-in-law, Mary Heiser of Sioux Falls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville in 2020, sisters, Alma, Hilda, and Helen, brother, Leroy, son-in-law, Lloyd Bower and grandson, Shawn Lebeda.

In lieu of flowers the memorials can be directed to the Herreid Baptist Church.
