Alvina E. Iron Hawk, 74, of Eagle Butte, entered the spirit world Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Church, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow at Frazier Memorial Cemetery, rural Red Scaffold. A wake will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, at the church, with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00 p.m.
Alvina Estella Iron Hawk was born to Wilson and Marjorie (White Weasel) Iron Hawk on July 1, 1947, in Cherry Creek, SD.
She received her education from St. Joe’s Catholic School in Chamberlain, SD and later completed her G.E.D. Later she attended USD at Vermillion and the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, SD, majoring in Food Service.
Alvina married Erhman Gabe Blackmoon and they had five daughters: Launa, Donna, Jody, Dody, and Erica. She was later blessed with two more daughters: Raynell and Tracy.
In 1974, Alvina moved back to Eagle Butte, becoming a cook for the Elderly Nutrition Program for 20 years. She also cooked for the nutrition program in Red Scaffold and the Eagle Butte Headstart.
Alvina had many talents such as sewing, beading, making star quilts, along with her love of cooking.
She is survived by her children: Launa Blackmoon of Eagle Butte, Jody Blackmoon of Ft. Yates, ND, and Dody and Erica Blackmoon (Arden) all of Eagle Butte; adopted son, Justin Iron Hawk; grandchildren: Hunter, Loni, Trini, Vincentt, and Jeremy Blackmoon, R.J. Noisy Hawk, Trent Blackmoon, Amanda, Andrew, Joey Jr., Summer, and Love LeBeau, Kyle and Wilson Red Water, Jaylynn Red Fox, Miranda and Dillion Waggoner, Wicahpi Win and Inyan Win Collins, Dawnelle Blackmoon, and Shawn Iron Hawk; great grandchildren: Desiree, Bill, Ashton, Fabian Jr, Nora, Illy, Ariana, Marlee, Kadrian, James, Leon Dre, Ellie, Dameon, Dante, Aaliyah, Allieanna, Sayyora, Josiah (Siah), Riot, Angel, Ana Lia, Deja, Robert Jr., Carolina, Isabella, Jonni, Edricc, Emilee, Elaina, Bryon, Liam, Cheyann, Addilee, Melcolm, Azahrya, Takocla, Taliyah, Lester, Trent Jr., Josiah, and Montana.
Alvina is preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Marjorie Iron Hawk; daughters: Donna Blackmoon, Raynell Blackmoon, and Traci Iron Hawk; granddaughters: Tiffany Red Water and Terri Rae Collins; great grandchildren: Eliza Red Water, Addison Montreal, Jeremy Blackmoon Jr., and Z’ckarie Red Water. brothers: Roe, Haskell, Otto, Wayne, and Seborn; and sister, Cleone Iron Hawk.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Alvina’s arrangements.
