Barb Ann Calkins was born February 10, 1951 to Robert C. “Robby” Calkins and Bonnie Corwin.
Barb spent her life as a large part of any community that she lived in. She taught Sunday School; was a lifetime Girl Scout; had membership in the Does, Lady’s Elks, Red Hat Society, and the Moose Lodge.
She loved family above everything. When she wasn’t helping her father, Robby, she would be working at the sale barn or hunting small game to skin for extra money. Robby would often get asked where his son was and he would correct them and say “that is my daughter and she will out work all your boys.”
Barb joined the Military after graduating from Stanley County High School in 1979. She served in the Army Reserves and Army National Guard for 12 1/2 years. She was a Sergeant in the Supply Unit in Rapid City. She fought forest fires in the 1990s. She had an honorable medical discharge in 1991.
Barb was married to Vince D. Stoeser. She loved her husband through her whole life and never remarried after he passed in 1980. She loved her children, Kie and Tyler, and grandchildren; Ean, Tren, and Crystal. Barb worked hard to provide a good life for her family.
Thankful to have shared in her life are her children, grandchildren and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father.
She is a light we will all carry with us for the rest of our lives.
