Benjamin Paul Oldenkamp, 76, of Kennebec, SD passed away on December 17, 2022 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Benjamin Paul Oldenkamp was born on October 4, 1946 to Henry and Bertha (Noteboom) Oldenkamp. He grew up in Murdo and graduated from Murdo High School in 1965. He joined the army and went to Germany as a cook from 1966 thru 1969. When he was discharged, he made his home in Kennebec and started trucking in 1978.
He married Suzanne Wise in 1987. He continued to truck petroleum products until 2019. He started digging gravel in 1999 at the Halverson pit and retired in 2022.
He was a member of the VFW which he served as Commander. He was also a member of the South Dakota Trucking Association since 1987 and served as director of the association from 1999 to 2014.
Survivors include his wife Suzanne; one son Paul (Lindsey) of Kennebec; four daughters, Tammy Kercher of Chamberlain; Virginia (Willy) Boysun of Glendive, Montana; Audrey (Ray) Massey of Menno; and Paula Munkvold of Menno. Seventeen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Two brothers, Fred Oldenkamp, Jonestown, TX and Robert Oldenkamp, Sturgis. Six sisters, Bessie Roghair, Oakaton; Henrietta Oldenkamp, Spearfish; Lynda Oldenkamp, Sioux Falls; Pauline Paul, Ft. Pierre; Bertha Oldenkamp, Watertown; and Betty Oldenkamp, Sioux Falls, and a host of other friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
A burial service will be held at a later date.
