Beverly (Glodt) Metscher, 67, of Aberdeen and formerly of Gettysburg, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg, with Father Brian Simon presiding. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service, and burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gettysburg.
Beverly J. Glodt was born June 18, 1955, in Gettysburg, SD to Harold “Pat” and Carrie (Hageman) Glodt. Bev received her education in Gettysburg, graduating in 1973. She attended Presentation College where she earned her early childhood development degree. She worked at the South Dakota School for the Visually Impaired and later the Development Center in Redfield, SD.
In 1983, Bev married David Metscher, and they made their home in Oklahoma. She returned to South Dakota in 1985 where she worked for Brown Pharmacy. In 1995, she moved to Rapid City and attended Western Dakota Vo-Tech, becoming a certified Pharmacy Technician. Bev graduated second in her class. She was employed with Walmart Pharmacy’s for 20 years in both Rapid City and Aberdeen.
Bev enjoyed visiting, crossword puzzles, playing cards, collecting Precious Moments and Snowbaby figurines. She loved to attend sporting events to watch her nephews play. She also attended many concerts at the Brown County Fair. Her all-time favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends, especially her neighbor’s dog, Bailey.
Bev is survived by mother, Carrie; four sisters: Patty Glodt, Gettysburg, Connie Forgey, Aberdeen, Karen DeVine, Gettysburg, and Barb Glodt, Aberdeen; uncle: Leo Hageman, Missouri; aunt, Joan Hageman, Gettysburg; nephews: Nick (Val) DeVine, Aberdeen, Matt (Olivia) DeVine, Vinzel Switzerland, and Jeff DeVine, Aberdeen; four great nieces: Kamryn and Aubree DeVine, Aberdeen, and Carlotta and Eleanora DeVine, Switzerland; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pat Glodt; grandparents: Leo and Cecelia Hageman and Nick and Grace Glodt; and several aunts and uncles.
Bev’s family wishes to say “Thank You” to all of her family and friends who have reached out during this difficult time. Your support, prayers, and caring thoughts were greatly appreciated.
