FT. PIERRE, SD –
Robert Allen Fuchs, a man whose generosity and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many, passed away on January 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. A Visitation/Open House will be held 5:00-7:00pm, Monday, January 29, 2024 at Feigum Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt.
Born on January 29, 1951, in Armour, South Dakota, to proud parents Emil and Lorraine (Smith) Fuchs, Robert, affectionately known as Bob, was a friendly soul whose laughter and kindness will be profoundly missed.
Bob’s early years were spent in the heart of South Dakota, where he began his education in Fort Pierre. The family later moved to Colorado Springs, where Bob graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969. His love for his roots brought him to jump on his motorcycle and head back to South Dakota, where he embarked on a lifelong career that would define his passion for work and the open road.
Bob’s journey led him to the Prince Ranch near Hayes, where he dedicated over two decades of service. His work ethic and love for the ranching life were evident to all who knew him. Following his time with the Prince family, Bob transitioned to trucking, working for Erv Korkow until Erv’s passing. He continued his career in transportation with Ogan Trucking until November of this past year when his health no longer permitted.
His work was his passion, but Bob also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found at Medicine Creek engaging in lively conversations with friends. Family gatherings were a favorite pastime, where he would play games of 500 and share stories that would leave everyone in smiles.
Bob’s adventurous spirit led him to explore the country on his beloved Goldwing motorcycle. His travels took him to places like Las Vegas, Carlsbad Canyon, the Black Hills, Eugene, OR and Sacramento, CA, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Described by those who knew him best as generous, friendly, and adventurous, Bob’s presence was a gift to the world. His ability to make friends wherever he went and his willingness to lend a helping hand are qualities that will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Bob is survived by his brother Dennis (Pat) Fuchs, sister Shirley (Jerry) Simms, sister Kathy (Steve) Baker, brother-in-law Jim Borgstadt, and brother-in-law Jerry Schulz. His legacy will also be cherished by a host of beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and a circle of friends who became family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lorraine Fuchs, sisters Joan Borgstadt and Barb Schulz, brother-in-law David Piersol, niece Sara Klich, and great-nephews Jordan and Dylan Klich and Jacob Wages.
