Bobbi Jo (Dovey) Larson passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Bobbi Jo (Dovey) Larson was born on August 22, 1973, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Mary (Reitz) Howard and Bob Dovey. As a child, Bobbi and her family lived on an acreage outside of Renner, SD, where they had many pets, including horses and donkeys. It was there that Bobbi first developed a love for animals that would last throughout her life. A few years later, the family moved to Sidney, Montana, where they lived near extended family. Later, they returned to Sioux Falls, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1991. Bobbi attended Southeast Technical Institute, obtaining a degree in civil engineering. She went on to work for Sweetman’s in Sioux Falls and later moved to Chamberlain to manage Lakeshore Motel.
In 2006, Bobbi met the love of her life, Clint Larson. They were married on July 25, 2009, making their home in Pukwana. To this union two children were born: Andy (13) and Ally (9). After working as a classroom paraprofessional, Bobbi discovered a love for education and decided to go back to school to earn a teaching degree. In 2013, she graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education.
Bobbi’s teaching career began at Chamberlain Elementary School in the B Kindergarten classroom. From there, she transferred to Special Education at the high school level. Most recently, she had taught at St. Joseph’s Indian School in the Elementary Special Education program.
From a young age, Bobbi had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially dogs and horses. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time outside. She liked staying busy and was never afraid to tackle a house project. Bobbi also helped with the family business, Missouri Valley Taxidermy, doing bookwork and running errands.
Although she had many passions in life, her greatest love of all was her family: Clint, Andy, and Ally. As a family, they hold many happy memories together of camping, hunting, and swimming in the backyard. They also treasure the times they shared as a family with their dogs and horses.
Bobbi was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her quiet time reading the Bible and listening to Christian radio. Bobbi enjoyed attending Calvary Baptist Church, where Andy and Ally also go to Sunday School.
