Buddy A. Colombe, Sr., 70, of Eagle Butte, began his journey to the spirit Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Monument Health in Rapid City, SD, surrounded by family and grandkids whom he thought the world of.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in St. Paul Episcopal Cemetery, LaPlant, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the hall with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00 p.m.
Buddy A. Colombe, Sr., was born December 13, 1952, in Pierre, SD, to Christopher Colombe of Rosebud, SD and Melda Johnson of Cheyenne River, SD.
Buddy attended school in Pierre, SD where he resided for many years, finishing high school at Stanley County in Fort Pierre, SD. Buddy went on to further his education earning his associate degree in accounting at Aberdeen, SD.
After college Buddy traveled to many cities and worked at various jobs meeting a lot of lifelong friends along the way. He started his passion for cooking with IHS, then went on to work with the C-EB school cafeteria. He returned to work for IHS where he retired in 2019. After retirement, he went on to join the Cheyenne River Telephone Authority Board of Directors. Anyone who knew Buddy knew he had a passion for cooking, as he also joined the Windswept Academy as their cook until he fell ill in February 2023.
Buddy who was a true believer in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. He regularly attended First Baptist Church where he began his journey in finding his peace and love for the Lord. Growing up Buddy had many hobbies and interests which he enjoyed, such as coaching, as well as watching the game of softball, playing bingo, watching wrestling with his family, as well as sports. He enjoyed family time with his family and grandkids who he loved and thought very much of, cherishing every moment. Not only did he have a passion for cooking, but he also found his love for music when he started his band “Kountry Kool” with friends and family of which he was the lead singer and drummer. Family, friends, and many others enjoyed Buddy’s band jamming out and him singing country music. Everyone who knew him has very fond memories of him doing what he loved.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Haven J. Colombe of Eagle Butte, SD; one son, Buddy A. Colombe Jr. (Charlie Anne) of Aberdeen, SD; seven daughters: Desiree M. Colombe of Eagle Butte, SD, Alana (Sean) Casey of Rapid City, SD, Billie (Ricky) Palma of Minneapolis, MN, Kellie Colombe, Bobbie (Lance) Bianas, and Brittany (Robby) Colombe all of Pierre, SD, and Kayla Colombe of Eagle Butte, SD; 21 grandchildren who were the apple of his eye: Brooklyn, Mason, Neveah, Christopher, Julie, Quade, Leighton, Essence, Kenneth, Franceska, Rico, Kataleena, Cheyenne, Ty’Kaydia, Tilennzo, Tupac, Lyryque, Kierstyn, Ryance, Rylin, and Andre; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, great grandchildren and hunkas.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher Colombe and Melda Johnson; his first daughter, Francesca Serena Colombe; brother, Alton Augustine; sisters: Rita Fallis and Velma Langdeau; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren/great grandchildren.
Luce Funeral of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Buddy’s arrangements.
