PIERRE, SD – Carol Ann (Jones) Klinger, a beacon of light and love for all who knew her, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Carol was born on March 24, 1950 and spent her early years in California and Parker, SD, before settling in Pierre, SD in 1953. Carol’s life was a tapestry woven with dedication, service, and love of family.
A proud graduate of Riggs High School, Carol continued to flourish in her professional endeavors, graduating from LPN Nursing School in Pierre in August 1979. She dedicated her life to the caring profession, touching many lives with her compassion and skill.
Carol’s personal life was equally rich and fulfilling. She entered into marriage with Larry Klinger on February 23, 1968, after first meeting him at the tender age of 10. Their love story was one of mutual support and deep affection, and together they brought three wonderful children into the world: Randy, Rob, and Tami.
Throughout her life, Carol was an active participant in her community. Her involvement in the Legion Auxiliary was marked by her commitment to service, as she held numerous offices and represented the organization at many National Conventions. Additionally, she was a valued member of the Eastern Star.
Carol’s zest for life could be seen in her hobbies. She enjoyed the camaraderie and competition found in bowling and softball and expressed her creativity through the art of crocheting.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her beloved husband, Larry, remains to honor her memory, as do her children: Randy (Julie) of Sioux Falls, and daughter Tami (Kris) of Fort Pierre, and daughter-in-law Donna of Rapid City. Carol’s light will continue to shine through her brother Bud; her grandchildren: Ashley, Michael, Chelsea, Tawni, Abby, Sebastian, Kasandra, Miranda, Ty, Kenzi, Brittnie, Robby, and Josh; and her great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Logan, Maci, Lane, Natalia, Jace, Merida, Avalee, Taytum, Emery, Bruce and the anticipated arrival of baby Adams in November.
Though Carol was preceded in death by her father and mother, Gladys (Guernsey) Jones-Gifford, grandparents, in-laws, stepdad, son Rob, and nephew Allen, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she impacted. Carol Klinger will be remembered not just for the roles she fulfilled, but for the warmth and kindness she so readily shared with the world. Her journey may have concluded, but her story—etched in the hearts of those she loved—will continue.
