Carol Sue Little Owl age 70 of Fort Yates, ND 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Fr. John Floberg will be officiating. Mask are required to be worn in attendance. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Young Family Cemetery under the direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Carol Little Owl passed away on September 25, 2021, in Fort Yates, ND.
Carol Sue Little Owl was born on January 30, 1951, in Fort Yates, ND to Mary Yellow Lodge- Young-Bailey. She lived in Fort Yates and Solen. She moved back to Fort Yates where she has since resided. Carol met and married Albert (Shobie) Little Owl in 1990.
Her schooling was in Fort Yates Public School and Pierre Indian School where she did her grade school years. She attended high school in Fort Yates until 11th grade. She attended 12th grade at the Fort Yates High School, where she received a scholarship in Art. She went to Smith College for Women in Ohio. She worked at Prairie Knights Casino for 15 years, before her retirement.
Her spare time was spent reading novels, solving crossword puzzles, watching westerns and crime stories on TV. When she was not spending time taking care of her dogs.
Carol is survived by her daughters Angel, Amanda, Sarah, Holly, and Amber Rose; Sisters Debra Young-Unno, Betty Young-Manning, Sharon Young-Sandoval, and her brother Eugene Pepper (Phyllis) Young; Hunka sister Kathy Vallee; grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Dylan Little Owl and her daughter Rachael Young, her mother Mary Yellow Lodge-Young-Bailey, her father Gabe Young, her stepfather John Bailey, her brother Gary “Skipper” Young and sisters Rosemary “Peggy” Young-McKnown and Frances “Eebs” Young-Silk.
Casket bearers will be Joe Sandoval, Raymond Black Bear, Wambdi Hota Young, Raphael Seewalker Jr., Joe Agard Jr., and Jeff White Twinn Jr.
Honorary casket bearers will be Lillian Kidder-Young, Eugene Four Sr. and family, Juanita White Twin and family, Gladys Seewalker and family, Dixie and Nathan Shelltrack and family, Ione (Teenie) Gayton family, Darlene Froelic, Carol Sanders, Robert (BaBa) Silk, Margaret Shoots the Enemy, Dustin Lawrence, Arthur (J.R.) Silk, James Tara Unno, and Roland Seewalker.
