Funeral services for Casey S. Iversen, 23, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.  Visitation will begin in the church community center Friday at 5:00 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m. scripture service in St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.

Casey Sinclair Iversen (23)  passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 in peace at his favorite camping spot in Chamberlain, South Dakota.

Casey was born March 5, 1998 in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Foster North Iversen and Tammy Leigh (Doe) Iversen.

Following his graduation from Chamberlain High School in 2016, Casey followed his childhood goal of joining the military. Joining the Air Force in the same year on May 9. He completed his basic training in San Antonio, TX at Lackland Air Force Base on September 13, 2016.

Following the completion of basic training, he furthered his military training and graduated from Avionics Technical School in Wichita Falls, TX on May 9, 2017. In addition to many week to month long training sessions away from home, he honorably served his country by first deploying to participate in Operation Freedom Sentinel at Bagram Air Force Base, Afghanistan, from July 16, 2018 to December, 2, 2018. He volunteered to serve again in Operation Eagle/ Homeland Defence for presidential security detail in Savanna, GA from December 29, 2020, to April 25, 2021.

He has received multiple awards to include the Air Force Achievement medal for his actions.

Casey, while traveling the world, loved his quiet life in Chamberlain, and decided to make it his home. Many have recognized him as the local postman, a job that he loved. He spent hours with his grandparents, Skip and Rose, smoking, drinking, and helping out with the house.

He spent his post high school years living with his brother, Nathan.

While he was quiet to most, he absolutely loved his family and friends. Those who had the privilege of sharing his life knew how genuinely happy he was to simply be with his friends and see others succeed in whatever they were doing. Whether it was camping or planning a large event, or simply having a beer and watching cartoons, it did not matter; he loved his people. He needed nothing more than a cheap beer, hand rolled cigarettes, and the little things with his people. Whether they knew it or not, he thought about everyone he knew. He was way smarter than the average bear, and humble enough to never show it.

Casey, simply put, was a genuinely good man.

Casey, the son, was a kind, smart, conscientious man.

Casey, the brother, was an absolute best friend, co-goofy uncle, and complete goon.

Casey, the friend, loved all his friends and gave everything he had to help, and genuinely loved their success and happiness.

Casey, the Airman, served honorably and humbly.

Casey, the man, was the model of goodness.

Remember him for the beautiful human that he was, and be good to each other; especially those who need encouragement the most.

He would want all of those who knew him to have a beer, maybe a cigarette, and to be with their people at this time.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Foster and Tammy (Doe) Iversen; brother, Nathan Iversen; sister, Carly Iversen; nephew, Roekin James Dean Jackson; grandad, Loren (Skip) Iversen; Papa Ken Anderson, uncle Joel Iversen; cousin, Taylor Iversen and kin, Titus and Hollis Rice; aunt and uncle, Holly Iversen and Kevin Kirchner; aunt and uncle Kathy and Bradley Doe; cousins, Alex, and Adam and Kimberly (Schiebel) Doe; uncle Logan and Janae (Boucher) Doe, cousin Jonah Doe and many, many others.

Proceeding him in death is his grandmother and partner in crime, Rose Iversen; grandmother Ardys (Faye) Anderson; grandfather Howard S. Doe, uncle Greg Hall, and would have been brother-in-law Skyler Jackson.
