Charlotte Giesen, 102, of Faulkton passed away Friday, June 04, 2021 at Faulkton Senior Living, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Faulkton, with Father Christopher Hughes presiding. Burial will follow in Saint Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Faulkton. A wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the church with a visitation one-hour prior.
Charlotte Thomas was born September 22, 1918, in Wakonda, SD to Fred and Jesse (Babb) Thomas. When she was a young girl, her family moved to the Seneca area where she graduated from Seneca High School in 1935.
Following Charlotte’s education, she worked various jobs until marrying Lyle C. Giesen. They were married December 29, 1941 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton. Together they purchased the family farm operation from Lyle’s dad in 1946. They raised their family while Charlotte kept busy raising the children and nurturing to family and friends through her love of cooking and baking.
Throughout Charlotte’s life she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, working crossword puzzles, spending time with her family including following her grandchildren in their school and sports activities. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she was active with the Catholic Daughters, Alter Society, and church choir.
Those left to cherish her life include her son, John (Konni) Giesen, Faulkton; daughter, Cecelia (Mike) Schultz, Wyoming, MN; son-in-law, Scot Wieseler, Orient; her grandchildren: Nikki (Erik) Lindberg, Minneapolis, MN, Kelly (Barry) Ohlsson, Oshkosh, WI, Sister Desirae Wieseler, Purissima S.V., Robin (Ashley) Wieseler, Darin Wieseler, and Aubri Hjorth; great grandchildren: Ginny and Gwen Lindberg, Logan Ohlsson, and Kamden and Zadie Wieseler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; daughter, JoEllen Wieseler; sisters: Corrine “Curly”, Marcella, Virginia, Mary, and (infant sister) Laura; and brother, Fred “Buddy”.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Charlotte’s arrangements.
