Survivors include his wife Kristy Carper of Pierre; daughter Tara Carper of Pierre; son Rhett Carper of Abilene, KS; grandson Hunter Carper of Abilene, KS; mother Betty Carper of Indiana; his two brothers John Stockman and Jock Gibson; his Uncle Charles and Aunt Mary Lou; a niece Hanna Corning of Pierre; and Aunt Carol Logan of Pierre; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Carper and brother Dave Carper.

Private family services will be held.
