Clifford Jackson, 91, Rockham, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Faulkton Area Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton. Burial will be 12:30 p.m. MDT, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.
Clifford Burton Jackson was born June 4, 1929 in Rockham, SD to Verne and Mabel (Busch) Jackson. He attended rural country school, St. Lawrence High School and graduated from Brookings. He enlisted in the United State Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
On February 25, 1954 Clifford was married to Leota Stemper at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Zell. They made their home at the family farm near Rockham.
Clifford and Leota worked side by side on the family farm. They raised livestock and chickens, gathered eggs and farmed the land. They farmed their entire married life near Rockham where they raised their three girls.
Clifford was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Zell, the Rockham American Legion, and the Redfield VFW. He enjoyed square dancing and raised all of his farm animals: chickens, pigs, cows, and sheep.
Clifford is survived by his three daughters: Patricia (the late Lance) Olen of Wecota, Debra (Terry) Rohlfs of Wolsey, and Jean Jackson of Aurora, CO; five grandchildren: Mark Olen, Angela (Benjamin) Grams, Lori (Cody) Bruns, Steve Rohlfs, and Christine (Brad) Saltsman; seven great grandchildren; four siblings: Lyle (Kathy) Jackson, Dick (Gwen) Jackson, Rene (David) Kelnhofer, and Karen Pflanz; and one sister-in-law, Marge Aanenson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leota; son-in-law, Lance Olen; two brothers: Herbert “Ole” and Douglas “Butch” Jackson; and three sisters: Verna Hoffman, Shirley Faust and one in infancy.
