Funeral services for Deanna L. Neugebauer, 83, of Chamberlain, SD formerly of Rapid City, SD, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation with family present will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.
Deanna Lucille Wolcott was born November 15, 1938 at Chamberlain, SD to Orl and Virginia (Haley) Wolcott. She began school in Chamberlain before attending the Wolcott and Hamill Country Schools. She graduated from Chamberlain High School in May of 1956. She started working for the Burke State Bank in Burke. On May 17, 1957, Deanna was united in marriage to Edward Lavern Byre at the Zion Lutheran Church. They made their home south Reliance on the White River. To this union, three sons were born Wayde Lavern, Brad Larue, and Dana Laramie.
She worked at several places including St. Joseph’s Indian School and S.D. Game, Fish, and Parks.
They moved to Chamberlain in 1967 to run the Chamberlain Airport until they purchased the home place of John and Emily Byre.
Deanna moved to Rapid City to work for Timberline Corporation. She attended Northwest Business School for computer training. She later began working for the State Department of Child Support Enforcement and then the State Department of Military and Veterans Affairs where she remained until her retirement. On September 27, 1986, Deanna was united on marriage to Donald W. Neugebauer in Rapid City, SD.
Deanna moved to Chamberlain, SD in 2020 to be near her family.
Deanna passed away on April 30, 2022 at Chamberlain, SD at the age of 83 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her sons Brad (Wendy) and Dana (Faye); daughter-in-law Beth Byre; two brothers Lenny (Jeannie) Wolcott and Lonnie (Sandy) Wolcott; a sister Deloris “Dodie” (Larry) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Donald; son Wayde Byre; and grandson Devon Byre.
