Dennis Edwin Fischer was born May 24, 1944 in Eureka, SD to Edwin and Iola (Kusler) Fischer. Dennis grew up on a farm with this his sister Lorie and brother Gary, near Herried, SD. Dennis liked to be outside with his brother Gary both winter and summer! His mom would find small footprints in the snow and knew they were outside playing. Dennis attended a country school for eight years. In the winters Dennis drove his brother to country school in a Model A but wrecked hitting a rock pile, then had to use the tractor. He then went to high school in Herried and graduated in 1962. Dennis joined the National Guard in 1961 at the age of 17 as a junior in high school.
This is when he met Carol (Hardcastle) his future wife at the Mobridge A&W when they pulled up in a big National Guard truck. Carol had to climb up to take the orders and they would soon become a couple and married two years later in Seattle Washington where they lived for nine years. Their son Todd was born there in 1967. The family moved back to South Dakota where he took up a new position and moved to Mobridge where Casey, Bubba (Jesse), and Kelly were born. Dennis was a skilled tradesman and instructor in asbestos removal and insulation installation. Dennis was required to travel throughout the country and region for his employment and even worked on the Eisenhower tunnel in Colorado. Dennis finally retired after working for his brother’s company at the age of 72. But continued helping friends and family with yard work and other favors.
Dennis loved to ride his motorcycle, spend time with his brother-in-law Jim Brockcamp, and taking out his family on his pontoon boat. He loved spending time with his friends especially Gigs Zeller, and always with his family and his brother Gary and his cousin Bill during their trips to Sturgis and other rides.
Dennis is survived by his wife Carol, their four children Todd, Casey (Jennifer), Jesse and Kelly (Alan Malsam); his brother Gary and Becky (Naasz) Fischer and their four children, and Lorie and Aldeen Goehring and their four children. Also surviving are his beloved Grandchildren Trent Davis, Elizabeth Fischer, Beau Fischer, August and Greta Fischer, Nicholas Hunter, Alaya Fischer, Wesley Braden Malsam, Shawn and Shane Hepper; four greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and his uncles and aunts Lloyd and Carol Kusler, and Jeanette and Marvin Winterberg.
