EAGLE BUTTE, SD – Derrill Bowker, 46, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at home in Eagle Butte.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. MDT, Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Cherry Creek Gym, Cherry Creek. Burial will follow in Congregational Cemetery, Cherry Creek. A wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the gym with a procession from the 2-Mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Derrill M. Bowker was born July 4, 1977, at Rapid City Regional West to Marian Bagola and Marvin Bowker. He was raised by his grandparents, Susie and Virgil Bowker and attended school at Takini until he moved to Eagle Butte.
Derrill liked taking care of his grandparents and driving them around. Some of his hobbies included listening to music and dancing to the song “40 Days”, driving around, spending time with his nieces, nephews, and other children, and going over to stay and visit with his mother. Most of the time though, Derrill enjoyed just staying home.
Derrill is survived by his mother, Marion Bagola, Eagle Butte; father, Marvin Bowker, Eagle Butte; sisters: Alvette Bowker, Bull Head, Donita Flying By, Eagle Butte, and Dennette Flying By, Eagle Butte; brother, Spencer Bagola, Eagle Butte; half-sisters: Amber Bowker, Eagle Butte, Vanessa Bowker, Crow Creek; aunt, Raylene Bagola; uncle, Loren Bagola; cousins: Amanda Grieve, Mary Garter, and Leo Bowker; and high school friends: Melissa Dupris, Toni Taken Alive, Valeda Blue Arm, Shiresse Blue Arm, and Sara Wolf.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Virgil and Susie Bowker and Llewellen and Irene Bagola; great grandparents: Frank and Edith Waloke; brothers: Marvin Bowker Jr. and Alvin Bowker; sister, Lisa Bowker; uncles: Ben and Lyle Bowker, Byron Bagola, and Llewellen Bagola Jr.; and aunt, Blanche Bowker.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Derrill’s arrangements.
