Dolores Cronin of Sioux Falls, formerly of Presho, passed away on May 7, 2022 at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be held at Isburg Chapel in Presho, SD, on Friday, May 13th at 11 am, followed by a burial at the Presho Cemetery and a lunch at the Methodist Church in Presho.

Dolores Anna Abrahamson was born August 24, 1929 to Searn and Lola (Cropsey) Abrahamson at the Chamberlain Hospital in Brule County, South Dakota. She was the eldest of four children and was raised in Lyman County. Dolores married Wayne S. Nankivel, Sr. on December 1, 1951 in Parker, South Dakota. They lived in Mitchell, Canton, Pukwana, Belvidere and Presho to name a few places.
Dolores and Wayne, Sr. were divorced in 1966. Dolores made Presho her residence. On December 16, 1971 Dolores married Frank Cronin and they lived on a ranch northwest of Presho. Frank was killed in an automobile accident in September 1972.
Dolores is survived by her sons Donald (Rhonda) Nankivel of Tea, SD; Joel (Tracey) Nankivel of Fredericksburg, VA; Charles Nankivel of Sioux Falls, SD; her foster sons Christopher (Krystal) Abrahamson, Harrisburg, SD; Dusty (Shanon) Abrahamson, Presho/Harrisburg, SD; Zane Abrahamson, Sioux Falls SD; Dalton Briley, Lower Brule, SD; sister-in-law Jeannie (Richard) Abrahamson, Canton SD; daughters-in-law Janice (Wayne, Jr.) Nankivel, Spearfish, SD and Barb (Clinton) Nankivel, Pierre, SD; twenty-two Grandchildren and fourteen Great-Grandchildren; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her Grandparents Benoni & Johanna Abrahamson, Bert & Wealtha Cropsey, her parents, brothers Richard & Donald and her sister Faye Clickner, Wayne Nankivel Sr., Frank Cronin, her sons Wayne Nankivel Jr., & Clinton Nankivel, granddaughter Amanda Nankivel, great-granddaughter Hanna Brown, and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
Dolores said “The most important people in my life were my family.” She did not limit her ‘family’ to blood relation but included many people who were special in her life, she especially enjoyed the pheasant hunters that came out to Presho to hunt every year.
