Doris M. Schultz, 82, of Miller, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Doris Mae was born on June 18, 1938 at home north of St. Lawrence, SD to Casey and Ethel (Williams) Schultz. She graduated from Miller High School in 1956.
Doris lived in Hand County all her life except for the year she went to Rapid City to attend secretarial school. Upon returning home, she went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture in the FmHA department. Doris retired in 1995, after working thirty-seven years. She was a very loyal, precise, and dedicated employer, receiving various awards and being complimented often by her supervisors for her work ethics. She used her excellent shorthand skills long after she retired.
She volunteered her time to the many organizations she belonged to. Helping with bingo at Good Samaritan Center and Courtyard Villa was a weekly outing for many years until her health stopped her from going. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Playing cards, Bunco and dining out with her friends were Doris’ greatest joys. Her greatest lessons in life included: never hold grudges, be calm, and do not show anger.
Doris is survived by her sister, Dorothy Dickert, SC; brother, Casey (Luella) Schultz, Miller; close nieces and nephews: Barb (Willie) Hasart, St. Lawrence, Jim (Marilyn) Krick, Highmore, Terry Krick and Jenise Krick, both of Miller; brother-in-law, Bruce (Marilyn) Groves, AZ; along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Phyllis Groves and Jean Krick; brother, Dale Schultz; and brothers-in-law: Jim Krick and Dick Dickert.
Memorials may be directed to Avera Hand County Hospital, PO Box 287, Miller, SD 57362, Good Samaritan Center, 421 E 4th Ave, Miller, SD 57362 or Rustler Roost, 623 E 4th St, Miller, SD 57362.
